2012-13 Task Forces

The following are the R&D Task Forces that were formed for the 2012-2013 year. Updates about the Task Forces’ explorations are shared frequently through blog posts. PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
Task Force Facilitator: Jason Roy (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: To continue building an understanding of project-based learning and prototype project-based learning instruction as a transformational instructional practice within the context of ASB.

GAMIFICATION
Task Force Facilitator: Scot Hoffman (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: To determine the impact of gamification on academic achievement, engagement, and motivation across disciplines and grade levels at ASB.

ALTERNATE SCHOOL YEAR CALENDARS
Task Force Facilitator: Paul Kasky (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: Using research conducted last year,  we reimagined a school year calendar that would expand learning time during the school day and throughout the calendar year.

BYOD 2 or Mobile Learning
Task Force Facilitator: Martin Reinsmoen (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: Expanding upon the BYOD program, this task force researched the potential use and advantage of incorporating a second device, such as a tablet or smart phone in the classroom.

INTERSESSIONS
Task Force Facilitator: Shabbi Luthra (Director of R&D)
Purpose Statement: Design and prototype an Intersession program for ASB.

INTERNSHIPS
Task Force Facilitator: Waciuma Wanjohi (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: To research the value of an internships program for ASB students and design the framework of this program.

LIBRARY 3.0
Task Force Facilitators: Shabbi Luthra (Director of R&D), Tim Staal (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: To articulate a vision of a Library 3.0 (Library of the Future) that will support the mission of ASB; Develop a Timeline and Action plan / road map for realizing the vision.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 3.0
Task Force Facilitators: Paul Kasky (Faculty) and Scot Hoffman (R&D Coordinator)
Purpose Statement: To articulate a definition and vision of what Professional Development could look like that will support the mission of ASB; Develop a timeline and action plan/roadmap for realization of the vision.

INTERSESSIONS
Task Force Facilitator:

Purpose Statement:
This task force will continue to prototype Intersessions at ASB for the 2013-14 school year.

MOBILE LEARNING
Task Force Facilitator: Martin Reinsmoen (Faculty)
Purpose Statement: This task force will facilitate the mobile learning prototype across ASB and coordinate with the external researcher who will help us gather data and analyze the impact of mobile devices on teaching and learning at ASB.
